Visit Britain 4 Stars |
Built in 1691 and formerly used as a resting house for monks travelling between Glastonbury and Malmesbury, Toghill House stands on the very edge of the Cotswolds four miles north of Bath.
Within a stone's throw of the site of the battle of Landsdown and with the Cotswold Way and the old east to west Roman road running through the garden, Toghill is steeped in history.
Bed & BreakfastThe house, restored in 1861 as a working farm, once again offers rest and comfort to the traveller. At the house your hosts, David and Jackie Bishop , offer a warm welcome and provide bed and breakfast for the traveller or tourist.
The tastefully decorated bedrooms are scattered between the main farm house and two other lovingly restored barn conversions. Combine this with a traditional English breakfast and you will soon understand why many guests return time after time.
There is a laundry room available for guests complete with washing machine, tumble dryer and ironing facilities. All are powered through a coin operated meter.

The Farm
Toghill is still a working farm and now concentrates on crop growing. There are also sheep, bantams and horses including Harry the Shetland pony. On arrival, you will sure to be greeted by one of our terriers, Hectar, Poacher, Dudley or Reg. The two cats, Sid and Rosie, may also pay you a visit.
Toghill Farm has stabling which guests are welcome to use. Bring your own horse, practice in the all-weather surface arena and then try out the twenty-four jump cross- country course which follows the perimeter of most of the farm estate. The permanent jumps have all been constructed to a high standard by Badminton's own jump builders and offer a real challenge to the aspiring young equestrian.
We also have lovely walks following signs around our farmland and several longer planned walks taking a whole or half day.
